Tabbing Shortcuts

In a recent release of TextMate we moved away from our old tab switching shortcut to one more commonly used. After releasing this update however we discovered that not all TextMate users are using the US keymap ☺ so we decided to look closer at shortcuts supported in a variety of applications.

It turns out there isn’t a great deal of consensus on what the shortcut should be. Because of the issue with the commonly used shortcut some applications support up to three different shortcuts for the same task.

While we wish there was more of a consensus on what shortcut should be used we have added back support for the old shortcut (⌥⌘←/⌥⌘→) in the update available today (r1623). This is in addition to the new default shortcut of ⌘{/⌘}

The table below shows the shortcut shown in the menu as ♦ and the other supported shortcuts as ♢.
